Student Alerts
- Engagement and Participation (Concerns about engagement, performance, or conduct in a course)
CSU Global uses Dropout Detective, a tool integrated into Canvas. To submit an engagement and participation alert, instructors will click on Dropout Detective in your course using the Dropout Detective tab. This will take you to the Dropout Detective platform, where you can submit the alert and any additional documentation. When you submit the alert, the assigned Success counselor receives a notification prompting them to reach out to the student via phone and/or email. You will be able to review the alerts for this student throughout the term by returning to the Dropout Detective dashboard. Please review the following information about Dropout Detective.
- Plagiarism or Artificial Intelligence Alerts (Concerns related to work submitted by the student, including the level of original content or concerns of cheating)
Submit an instructor alert through your portal by clicking on the Academic Integrity Alert. This will allow you to submit your concern directly to the Student Affairs team, who will review the work submitted and provide you with appropriate next steps based on university policy.

CSU Global’s Student Success team provides a single point of contact to students for assistance. Success counselors specialize in working with either Undergraduate or Graduate students and are trained to help through every step of the student journey. Our mission is to provide students with customized support services to help them succeed.
Every CSU Global student is assigned a Student Success Counselor during their second week of class as they transition out of enrollment. Success Counselors have an average student caseload of 600 students. Not being program-specific allows students to get the answers they need, even if their success counselor is out of the office. We adhere to a one business day response time for all student emails and phone calls. If a success counselor is out, their emails and voicemails are sent to another team member for follow up.
Student Advisors are customer service experts and information generalists. Some of the topics we advise students on are:
- Degree planning, selecting classes and specializations
- Navigating CSU Global systems
- CSU Global policies and processes
- Support resources
- Alternative credit options
Student Success not only answers incoming questions but aims to anticipate the needs of our students. In addition to building a Student Help Center, which contains over 400 self-service articles, and building a chatbot (GoldieBot), Success counselors proactively reach out to students at regular intervals to offer support.
Academic Outreach
- Low course grades:
- Undergraduate students earning lower than a C
- Graduate students earning lower than a B
- Students who are not actively engaging in a current course
- Students who are in SAP Warning or SAP Probation
Degree Planning
Success Counselors connect with students in their first term at CSU Global to better understand their goals and motivations and ensure they are on the right path from the start. Success Counselors also connect with students at regular intervals during a student’s undergraduate and graduate studies to keep students on track to graduation.
