Information to Share with Students about Saving PPTs and Notes

When the presentation is complete, follow these steps to SAVE so that your speaker notes are visible within the grading program:

  • Click Save As
  • Select the correct folder to save to
  • Type in your file name or keep the one you have already created
  • Click the Save as Type and Select PDF
  • Click on Options
  • Under Publish What
  • Select Notes pages
  • And click OK
  • This is the file you will submit when you upload your assignment...

Viewing PPT notes in Canvas

To view student PPT notes in Canvas, download the file using the arrow to the right of the submission.

After you open the PPT, open “View” “Notes.” You can add comments through the “Review” menu.

If you are using a Mac, you will need to open “Layers” and “Presentation Notes” and then hover and click on the comment icon.

Leaving Feedback in PPTs

Canvas allows faculty to make comments on PowerPoint assignments in the same manner as they do in written assignments. Simply use the "balloon" feature at the top of the grading page and you can leave as many comments as you would like on a PowerPoint assignment. Another effective way to add comments in PowerPoint slides is to encircle (with the “pain brush” tool or the “box” tool) the area you want to comment on in the slide and then add a comment there, just as with the “balloon” tool.
