CSU-Global's Copyright & TEACH Act Policy outlines expectations and provide guidelines on processes/procedures for lawful use of copyrighted works.
Copyright covers any "original work" put in a tangible medium including digital works (webpages, email, etc), images, and computer software. It does not cover works of expression that are not in a tangible form (ideas, names, titles, concepts, improvised performances not recorded, etc), and works in the public domain.
Is the work I want to use protected? Or, is the work I want to use in the public domain?
Is there an existing exception to use the work?
Is the work covered by a license that allows me to use it? Is the library licensing that content already?
Is my proposed use infringement or would it be considered Fair Use?
Can I obtain permission to use the work?
How do I document my decisions to use copyrighted works?
