Use Mendeley: Create Citations

In-Text Citations

INSTALL: Once your documents are in Mendeley, you can cite them within Word and OpenOffice by installing plugins.  Once installed, you will have toolbar buttons that allow you to cite a document or manually edit any entry.

From Office go to Tools--Install-- and select Insert Citation.  Be sure to select your citation style as the American Psychological Association.

USE: Position the cursor where you want to insert your citation and click the Insert Citation button on the toolbar.

The Mendeley Citation Editor pop up will appear, allowing you to search your Mendeley library for the appropriate reference. Enter a search term (such as the author's last name) and choose the desired reference from the list of results. Click OK to insert a citation.

 

Reference Citations

From Office go to Tools--Install-- and select Insert Bibliography.  Be sure to select your citation style as the American Psychological Association.

USE: Position the cursor where you want to insert your complete Reference and click the Insert Bibliography button on the toolbar.  Be sure to proofread the citation to ensure it is formatted correctly.
