  •   Pew Research Center
    Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world. They conduct public opinion polling, demographic research, content analysis and other data-driven social science research.
  •   Data.gov
    Data.gov increases public access to high value, machine readable datasets generated by the Executive Branch of the federal government.
  •   Quandl
    Offers a free platform with hundreds of free datasets from "central banks, exchanges, brokerages, governments, statistical agencies, think-tanks, academics, research firms and more. Use Sign Up to create a free account on the site in order to download data.
  •   StatSci.org
    StatSci offers a long list of links to data sets for teaching, as well as other resources on statistics.
  •   Google Public Data Explorer
    Create visualizations of publicly available data from Google. Includes data from international organizations, national statistical offices, non-governmental organizations, and research institutions.
  •   Wolfram Data Repository
    Contains an expanding collection of computable datasets, curated, and structured for immediate use in computation, visualization, and analysis.
  •   Sage Research Methods
    Choose from over 150 datasets using data from real research, designed to support the teaching and independent learning of data analysis techniques.

  •   Statista
    Free registration gives access to core basic economic and social statistics including downloadable and embeddable charts.
  •   American FactFinder
    Contains census fact sheets for cities and zip codes as well as the American Community Survey results that offer social characteristic data.
  •   Bureau of Labor Statistics
    From the federal government, this site includes the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the Consumer Price Index, and Real Earnings reports, as well as economic statistics for the nation and for states.
  •   Bureau of Economic Analysis
    Source of U.S. economic statistics including national income and product accounts (NIPAs), gross domestic product (GDP), and related measures of national, regional, industry and international accounts.
  •   Eurostat
    European Union's statistical office.
  •   Vizala
    Country, demographic, social, and economic data.
  •   Federal Reserve Economic Data
    Provides historical U.S. economic and financial data, including daily U.S. interest rates, monetary and business indicators, exchange rates, balance of payments and regional economic data.
  •   Statistical Abstract of the U.S
    A comprehensive collection of statistics in tabular format. Includes basic statistics for a wide range of economic indicators. Each table lists the source of the statistics for further reference.
  •   Survey of Current Business
    This resource provides data on U.S. business at the regional, national, and international levels. Among statistical series covered are personal income, inventories and sales, national income and product accounts, foreign direct investment in the U.S., U.S. direct investment abroad, international transactions, and gross state product.
  •   Business Dynamics Statistics (US Census)
    measures of establishment openings and closings, firm startups, job creation and destruction by firm size, age, and industrial sector, and several other statistics on business dynamics, from 1976-2010.
  •   LABORSTA from the International Labour Office
    Labor data for 200 countries, from 1969 to the present
  •   Business and Industry Census Database
    Manufacturing, retail, services, construction, and other industries - historical financial and other indicators - some monthly.
  •   UN COMTRADE

  •   Penn World Table

  •   World Wealth & Income Database

  •   Longitudinal Business Database from the US Census
    Census of business establishments and firms in the U.S. with paid employees comprised of survey and administrative records.
  •   Bank for International Settlements

  •   National Bureau for Economic Research
    Many historical datasets of all kinds used by the NBER, such as "the 1947-2005 quarterly job flow series for US Manufacturing."
  •   OANDA Foreign Exchange Rates
    Daily rates for 164 currencies (and gold, silver and platinum) from1990 to the present.

  •   Bureau of Justice Statistics
    The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) collects, analyzes, publishes, and disseminates information on crime, criminal offenders, victims of crime, and the operation of justice systems at all levels of government.
  •   U.S Courts Statistics
    Find reports for a number of court statistical topics.
  •   Bureau of Justice International Justice Statistics
    The United Nations (UN) is the principal source of comparative crime and justice statistics.
  •   National Archive of Criminal Justice Data
    The National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD) is home to several large-scale and well known datasets, including the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports (UCR), the FBI's National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), and the Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods (PHDCN).
  •   Compendium of National Juvenile Justice Datasets
    The Compendium of National Juvenile Justice Datasets is an online resource for researchers and is intended as an aid to investigations of juvenile offending, victimization, and contact with the juvenile justice system.

  •   Human Development Indicators
    Each year the Human Development Report (HDR) presents a wealth of statistical information on different aspects of human development. All these data are available for download here in several different ways.
  •   World Values Survey
    The WVS is a worldwide network of social scientists studying changing values and their impact on social and political life. The WVS has carried out representative national surveys in 97 societies containing almost 90 percent of the world’s population.
  •   ICPSR
    Established in 1962, ICPSR is the world's largest archive of digital social science data. We acquire, preserve, and distribute original research data and provide training in its analysis. We also offer access to publications based on our data holdings.
  •   Roper Center
    The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research is one of the world's leading archives of social science data, specializing in data from surveys of public opinion. The data held by the Roper Center range from the 1930s, when survey research was in its infancy.
  •   ANES Data Center
    The American National Election Studies (ANES) produces high quality data on voting, public opinion, and political participation to serve the research needs of social scientists, teachers, students, policy makers and journalists who want to better understand the theoretical and empirical foundations of national election outcomes. Central to this mission is the active involvement of the ANES research community in all phases of the project.
  •   WRDS
    WRDS provides instant access to important databases in the fields of finance, accounting, banking, economics, management, marketing and public policy.
  •   IPUMS
    Integrated Public Use Microdata Series is a project dedicated to collecting and distributing census data from around the world and CPS.
  •   Corruption Perception Index
    The Internet Center for Corruption Research provides you with the TI-Corruption Perceptions Index, a comparative assessment of countries' integrity performance, alongside with related academic research on corruption.
  •   Sociometrics
    Sociometrics Social Science Electronic Data Library (SSEDL) consists of eight topically focused data archives, an online data analysis system, and teaching modules.
  •   University of Texas Inequality Project
    UTIP is a small research group concerned with measuring and explaining movements of inequality in wages and earnings and patterns of industrial change around the world.
  •   IQSS Dataverse Network
    Via web application software, data citation standards, and statistical methods, the Dataverse Network project increases scholarly recognition and distributed control for authors, journals, archives, teachers, and others who produce or organize data; facilitates data access and analysis for researchers and students; and ensures long-term preservation whether or not the data are in the public domain.
  •   Voteview
    The primary purpose of this website is to make available the data that Howard Rosenthal and Keith Poole generated out of their many research projects. Keith and Howard adhere to the policy that all of their datasets and software are made freely available to anyone who asks for them.
  •   Institution for Social and Policy Studies
    The overall mission of the ISPS Data Archive is to promote the preservation of data in the social sciences, with an emphasis on data from randomized controlled trials. Access to the ISPS Archive is provided at no cost and is granted for scholarship and research purposes only. The Archive currently holds replication files for studies conducted by ISPS-affiliated authors, and includes additional materials associated with a given study as well as high quality metadata.
  •   ISSP
    The ISSP is a continuing annual programme of cross-national collaboration on surveys covering topics important for social science research. It brings together pre-existing social science projects and coordinates research goals, thereby adding a cross-national, cross-cultural perspective to the individual national studies.
  •   CSES
    The Comparative Study of Electoral Systems(CSES) is a collaborative program of research among election study teams from around the world. Participating countries include a common module of survey questions in their post-election studies. The resulting data are deposited along with voting, demographic, district and macro variables. The studies are then merged into a single, free, public dataset for use in comparative study and cross-level analysis
  •   General Social Survey
    The GSS contains a standard 'core' of demographic, behavioral, and attitudinal questions, plus topics of special interest. Many of the core questions have remained unchanged since 1972 to facilitate time-trend studies as well as replication of earlier findings. The GSS takes the pulse of America, and is a unique and valuable resource. It has tracked the opinions of Americans over the last four decades.
